What is Semaglutide/GLP-1?

Semaglutide/GLP-1 is the first approved drug for chronic weight management in obese or overweight adults as a weight loss program. Approximately 70% of American adults are obese or overweight, a severe health issue associated with heart disease, stroke, and diabetes, linked to an increased risk of certain types of cancer. Losing 5% to 10% of body weight through diet and exercise reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, but diet and exercise alone are not always guaranteed to address the issue.

Semaglutide, or Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), encourages the pancreas to release the right amount of insulin, slowing the body’s digestive rhythm, reducing appetite, and stabilizing blood sugar—all of which power the accomplishment of your medically-supported wellness goals without the expense of surgery or other invasive treatments.

How does Semaglutide/GLP-1 work?

Semaglutide/GLP-1 works by mimicking a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) that influences areas of the brain that regulate appetite and food intake. Additionally, Semaglutide/GLP-1 encourages your pancreas to release the correct amount of insulin when blood sugar levels are high. Using Semaglutide/GLP-1 to increase insulin secretion while slowing down how fast your stomach empties food works in the following ways:

  • Slowed digestion
  • Reduced appetite
  • Stabilized blood sugar & energy

A suppressed appetite means you feel full longer, which helps you eat less while losing weight. On average, you can lose up to two pounds per week with a once-per-week injectable, avoiding the expense and discomfort of invasive surgery.

How will I feel?

What should I be mindful of?

Are there other treatments that can help me achieve my goals even faster?

May I use my Flex Saving Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) at Saving Face Body & Mind for my preventative wellness treatments?

How will I feel?

Many patients experience a reduced appetite, an extra energy boost, and enhanced motivation. In some cases, nausea, fatigue, headache, and gastric discomfort are reported. Our trusted providers will do everything possible to reduce potential side effects. Additional IV nutrient therapy is available on site as needed for hydrations, and energy and a metabolism boost.

What should I be mindful of?

Semaglutide/GLP-1 is unsuitable for immunocompromised patients with a history of pancreatitis or thyroid cancer. Because of its powerful glucose-lowering effect, alcohol use best limited. Semaglutide/GLP-1 and other medications of the same class (GLP-1Ras) have an overall favorable risk/benefit profile for qualified candidates, meaning that you can expect optimal results with minimal risk.

Are there other treatments that can help me achieve my goals even faster?

Yes! EON Body Contouring is the leading FDA-cleared laser technology on the market for permanent fat loss, offering an average of 22% fat reduction. IV nutrient therapy, Lipo/MIC injections and the support of a Functional Health Coach who will offer you recommendations on supplements, nutrition, and lab reviews other excellent ways to help your reach your aesthetic goals while getting to the root cause of your health concerns.

May I use my Flex Saving Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) at Saving Face Body & Mind for my preventative wellness treatments?
