Values

I’ve been thinking about personal growth in relation to fillers, neuromodulators, Kybella and the other treatments Saving Face offers. What is the relationship between these options and realizing inner beauty? Can they co-exist? Can there be Botox and Buddhism? Inner radiance and Radiesse? Fillers and Fulfillment? In the past, the judgmental part of me viewed them as incongruent, and now I see them in perfect harmony. We live in a world where safe options for anti-aging and graceful aging incorporate all of it. There is no shame in choosing to use the technology available. Or not. It’s all up to you and what brings value and meaning to your life.

In this blog, I’d like to suggest that you contemplate what you value. Our SF work family did an exercise recently exploring “What do you really value?” and it was in fact, valuable. Could you communicate the answer to that very fundamental question if someone asked you? Have you given it much thought? Moreover, does it matter? I suggest that it does; consider what do you value? I value: health, peace of mind, genuineness, lovingkindness, right livelihood, freedom, gratitude, joy, laughter, fun and play, and of course my friends and family. Realizing that I also value “time” and “purpose” was new information to me as part of our exercise.

Once you clarify your values you can use them as a litmus tool to decide on a moment-to-moment basis if your choices are in line with your values. If not, you can self correct before things get out of hand and if so, you can rejoice in living in your integrity. Either way you win. For me, a little help from aesthetic medicine is in alignment with my values so I can sit back, relax and enjoy the technological advances in a confident and healthy way rather than second guessing myself. Admittedly, I want my cake and I want to eat it too...I want to live pure and natural but I also want to look better than my age, refreshed, and beautiful. That kind of genuineness is in line with my values.
