Mother’s Day

Greetings Everyone and Happy Mothers Day!

This picture is of my mother Charlotte Hunter, my brother Bob (who is now a judge!) and myself circa 1974. It’s Christmas, and I’ve just turned 1 year old but looks like I’ve already developed my taste for sugar. Look how beautiful my mom is she is...like mom’s everywhere, she looks wise, exhausted and maybe a little bit resigned. Now, as a mom myself, I realize that motherhood was hands down the most profound life transition I’ve experienced and the biggest responsibility I’ve ever known. That said, I certainly do not feel as if motherhood is the end-all-be-all, and wonderful, phenomenal lives are lived sans kids, but I know now parenthood, for me, is a lifelong contract with growth.

Words cannot express my profound gratitude for my mother. While she’s far from perfect, she is the most amazing human being I’ve ever known and is resilient beyond measure. Don’t forget to honor your mom on Mother’s Day, or maybe make peace with the possibility she did the best she could. Either way, grab a friend or your mom and treat yourself this month. We hope to see you both in the office.
