What can I expect from an IPL photofacial at Saving Face in Austin?

While IPL may sound like a delicious beer, it is actually one of the most popular and requested facial rejuvenation techniques here at Saving Face! IPL stands for intense pulsed light, and it helps restore the skin’s suppleness, lifting away imperfections and improving the appearance of vascular problems.

Because our IPL photofacial in Austin uses a variety of wavelengths rather than a single one as laser treatments do, it causes less surface damage to the skin and is therefore considered to be a gentle yet effective treatment modality.

Unwanted skin pigments are destroyed, evening out the skin tone. While IPL is typically a painless experience, we can provide an additional layer of comfort by applying a numbing cream before your session.

IPL can be effective in treating the following:

  • Sun damage
  • Melasma
  • Rosacea
  • Rough skin
  • Freckles
  • Birthmarks
  • Scarring
  • Broken blood vessels
  • Enlarged pores
  • Signs of aging

Claire is very knowledgeable and careful in her treatments. She is also super sweet, friendly and 100% on time - much appreciated! No one really wants to bare everything and endure the laser, but at least it is with Claire, and the best part is that the results have been very positive so far!

What are the advantages of IPL treatment?

  • Non-surgical and non-invasive
  • No downtime or discomfort
  • Minimizes skin discoloration
  • Helps combat sun damage
  • Helps reduce freckles and brown spots
  • Leaves the skin more youthful and refreshed
  • Appropriate for treating the face, hands, chest and arms
  • Helps improve one’s confidence

Is IPL right for me?

IPL is most effective for untanned, fairer skin. Those with blotchy or sun damaged skin can benefit highly, as well as those suffering from rosacea. If you are taking the medication Accutane, you should not consider IPL until you have been off the drug for at least six months. Pregnant women should also abstain from IPL sessions until after they have given birth. Our office can help to determine if IPL is a match for your needs during your initial consultation.

How much downtime can I expect?

After your IPL photofacial in Austin, you can gently reapply makeup and resume your normal activities. In some rare cases, there may be minor bruising, which will abate within about one week.

Age spots and sun spots may initially appear darker before they disappear. If crusting occurs, rest assured this will diminish within 5-10 days.

IPL sounds great, but how much does it cost?

Each patient will need a different treatment approach, so costs will vary widely from client to client. In general, costs for a full cycle of IPL run from $600 to $1200. Note that most health insurance plans will consider IPL to be an elective procedure and therefore not covered. We will ensure that you are fully aware of your financial obligations before you move forward with booking your session.
